The Tennessee Electronic Library (TEL) Training is back for DataFest! There's a rich roster on October 28 and October 30.

October 28, 2020

10:00 - 10:30 a.m. - Nashville Tennessean

ProQuest has a number of Newspaper products and the Nashville Tennessean is available in all of them - Historic, Recent and Newsstream.  This 30-minute session will cover the different digitization formats, date ranges available also discuss tips for searching.  The session will review ways to help users have the best experience while navigating the Nashville Tennessean.  

 

Presenter: Sarah Palmer, ProQuest North America Education Team Leader

Sarah Palmer has been a Training and Consulting Partner for ProQuest for 10+ years.  She works with a variety of library customers to help them maximize their success with ProQuest products.  She has a degree in Library Science from the University of Illinois and lives in Chicago. 

 

11:00 - 11:30 a.m. - Transparent Language Online: Overview and New Features

With Transparent Language Online, your patrons can learn over 110 languages, including ESL, through reading, writing, listening, and speaking activities.  Just getting started with Transparent Language Online, or training someone new? In this presentation, we will cover a basic introduction (or refresher!) to the Transparent Language Online for Libraries system. We will also highlight some recent updates to Transparent Language Online!

 

Presenter: Lauren Gancarz, Marketing & Library Programs Manager, Transparent Language

Lauren has been with Transparent Language for 9 years. She works closely with libraries to provide marketing and technical support, as well as train them on Transparent Language Online. Lauren is a huge animal lover and currently serves on the Board of Directors at the Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that helps more than 2,200 cats, dogs, and small animals each year. On weekends, you will likely find her hiking in the mountains and enjoying the outdoors all year round.

 

Noon-12:30 p.m. - HeritageQuest Online

HeritageQuest Online, powered by Ancestry, offers users a wealth of genealogical content to search and explore.  This 30-minute session will review the content available in HeritageQuest, best practices for searching and tips for patrons working on family history projects.

Feeling comfortable with your Gale resources but want to stretch your skills a little? This session is for you! You’ll discover advanced methods for using resource features and document tools. If you’ve developed basic skills using your Gale resources from the Tennessee Electronic Library, join this webinar for tips and tricks to help your users zero in on what they’re really after!

Understanding, implementation, and inspiration are the concepts Tammi delivers at every training session. She loves to share her excitement for the content, ease-of-use, and endless possibilities of the Gale resources. World Book Online has creative ways to bridge the gap between in-person and remote support for patrons and schools.  Join us for new ways to engage with World Book - from distance learning ideas to making resources more accessible at home.  We’ll help you connect with users from afar including creating virtual spaces with World Book links.

Gale Presents: Peterson’s Career Prep from the Tennessee Electronic Library supports users building resumes, job hunting, or searching for new careers. In this webinar we will explore the user-friendly tools available to discover career paths and craft professional resumes and job application materials.
