We're repeating last year's program first, starting April 14th. Then we'll be exploring new territory with Learn & Discover 2.0, starting in July.

Broadband Access for All Tennessee Libraries - Appeal to Sec. Hargett

It is once again time for us all to speak up for Tennessee libraries!

Tenn-Share has asked the new Secretary of State, Tre Hargett, to take his first big step in support of our public libraries by directing the State Library to write a grant for funding available through the ARRA – American Recovery and Reinvestment Act – for increased bandwidth for Tennessee public libraries, especially those in rural areas of the state.

Remember our letter-writing campaign for TEL funding? OK, let’s do it again for broadband funding.

American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA)

Kevin Reynolds, TLA’s ALA Representative, is working hard to share via the TLA listserv all of the news surrounding the Stimulus money as he receives it from ALA.

Additionally, ALA is doing an excellent job of consolidating, in one place on the web, all of the Stimulus money projects as they relate to libraries.  Check it out daily as new information, suggestions for how to become eligible for the money, and deadlines for applying for grants is added constantly.
