Library Legislative Day is February 24

Tenn-Share is proud to support Tennessee Library Legislative Day.

Tennessee Library Legislative Day is February 24th this year.  We ask all of you to sign up to be in Nashville that day, to have lunch with your legislators and to meet with them in their offices afterward.

Once again the day begins with a session at Nashville Public Library. This year Marci Merola, Director of the ALA Office of Advocacy, will be our speaker.

Lunch with our legislators at the Doubletree Hotel begins at 12 noon. The cost is $25 for materials, presentations, and lunch. The registration form is attached for your convenience and can also be found on the TLA website.

Please contact your legislators and invite them to the Legislative Day Luncheon on Feb. 24. We have sent them invitations and intend to follow up on them, but nothing works as well as a personal invitation from a constituent. Call or email them with a simple message. Here’s what one person said when she called her State Senator:

“I just wanted to invite you to have lunch with me and other librarians from this area on February 24, at 12:00 Noon at the Doubletree Hotel in downtown Nashville. This is the annual Library Legislative Day, and I would be honored if you could join me.

“I always appreciate the work you do for us!”

We hope the legislator’s answer will be:

“Yes, I plan to be there!  Thank you for taking time to contact me.”

The more library staff and library users who attend, the better impression we’ll make. Please ask a friend to join you.
