TEL Stories Contest

TLA is collecting stories about the Tennessee Electronic Library (TEL) for this year's (2009) Tennessee Library Legislative Day. That Day will be the kick-off for a year-long celebration for the 10 years of TEL!

In these tough economic times, we want to be able to show how library-sponsored programs like TEL make a difference in the lives of everday Tennesseans.  We want to ensure that our citizens continue to benefit from the many resources TEL offers and we want to be able to continue to celebrate its successes for another ten years!

As part of this year’s Tennessee Library Legislative Day, the TLA Legislative Committee is sponsoring a TEL Stories Contest. This contest is open to every Tennessee resident and three lucky storytellers will win a new MP3 player!

But TEL users aren’t the only winners. The library with the most TEL Stories submitted by your patrons will win a $250 dollar equivalent of print or audio books for your library!

TLA is looking for stories from patrons that show how TEL has helped everyday Tennesseans. We are looking for funny, inspiring, or useful ways that people use TEL.  We want to know how many resources found in TEL have benefited someone by helping them:

·       Get a job

·       Prepare for an interview

·       Research a favorite author

·       Pass a test

·       Find information about a new car

·       Build lesson plans or classroom activities

·       Find information about health-related issues

·       Write a paper

·       Find a long lost relative

·       Practice for a college entrance exam

·       Receive his or her GED
