Memphis Area Library Council Reciprocal Borrowing Program is 2016 Tennessee Resource Sharing Award RecipientMemphis Area Library Council (MALC). In the fall of 2013, MALC began its Reciprocal Borrowing Program for students, faculty, and staff of thirteen Memphis college and university libraries to borrow print material from any participating library, which includes nearly every college and university library in the Memphis area.
The MALC Reciprocal Borrowing Program has greatly expanded access to library materials for over 50,000 students enrolled in Memphis area colleges and universities as well as the several thousand faculty and staff employed at those institutions. Smaller colleges supply access to specialized collections and larger universities supply access to research collections.
Courtney Fuson is 2016 Deanna Nipp-Kientz Volunteer of the Year
During the the 2016 Tenn-Share Fall Conference welcome, Leah Allison, President, presented the Deanna Nipp-Kientz Memorial Award to Courtney Fuson, Electronic & Educational Resources Librarian at Belmont University. Courtney is currently one of the co-webmistresses for Tenn-Share and has been involved with Tenn-Share in since 2010, when she was the Learn & Discover chair, coordinating Tenn-Share’s online statewide training program for library staff. She began serving as a co-webmistress in 2011. Courtney has served on several DataFest and Fall Conference committees as well. She has helped design and maintain Tenn-Share's websites and social media presence, provided technical support, and worked to help maintain Tenn-Share's membership database. When asked to help with a task, Courtney never says "no," and her knowledge and work ethic are exemplary. She truly epitomizes Deanna Nipp-Kientz's attitudes of service, hard work, and dedication to Tenn-Share.
Tenn-Share Board Nominations
Tenn-Share is seeking nominations to fill six upcoming vacancies on its Board of Directors. The Tenn-Share Board is an active governing board, not just an advisory board, and meets three times a year. Terms of office are two years, and will run from January 1, 2017, through December 31, 2018. Nominations may be submitted online anytime now through November 18.
We need to fill the Board Secretary position, as well as public, academic, and school libraries representatives. We try to maintain a geographic balance of representation across the three grand divisions of Tennessee; however, nominations for any good candidates are welcome and will be given due consideration.
Positions to be filled include:
· Board Secretary
· Academic Library Representative from East Tennessee
· Public Library Representative from East Tennessee
· Public Library Representative from Middle Tennessee
· School Library Representative from East Tennessee
· School Library Representative from Middle Tennessee
Are you interested in serving? Nominate yourself! Self-nominations are welcome and encouraged. If you have someone else in mind, be sure to get that person's agreement before submitting your nomination. You may submit nominations for more than one position. Remember, the deadline to make nominations is November 18. Why wait? Send us a name or two now!
